About Us...

Veselka - the Ukrainian word for rainbow defines in one word the colorful display of artistry that is the Veselka School of Ukrainian Dance.  The school was established in 1933 by the Ukrainian National Federation, Sudbury Branch.  That early spirit of Veselka thrives today and we are proudly heading into our 85th dance season in September 2017!

Our students continue to learn the basic steps of Ukrainian dance from each of the distinct regions of Ukraine.  Through fundraising efforts and with the support of the Dnipro/Veselka Educational and Cultural Society, the Veselka School of Ukrainian Dance has had the opportunity to purchase and create beautiful, authentic costumes and has built a large inventory of costumes representing each unique region.

The goal of the Veselka School of Ukrainian Dance is to teach Ukrainian dance in a fashion that promotes fun, new friendships, and a unique learning environment that ultimately helps keep the Ukrainian heritage alive in the City of Greater Sudbury and beyond.

The school is hosted by the Ukrainian National Federation which "was established as one of the first non-religious or political organizations for the purpose of uniting Ukrainian-Canadians with a common goal of promoting Ukrainian culture, education and to keep the Ukrainian spirit alive beyond the borders of Ukraine".  (

Anyone interested in learning to dance is welcome to join our dance school.  You do not have to be just have to enjoy the Ukrainian culture and all it has to offer!

Welcome!  Vitaemo!
